Grant Officer Report July & August 2018

September 7, 2018

Report submitted by: Laurel Bernier, Grants Officer

Major projects completed:

  • Ongoing compliance reviews of new program documents (i.e. Member Service Agreements, Position Descriptions, etc.)
  • Completed 10 Cooperative Agreements between state and 2018-2019 AmeriCorps programs
  • Set up 2018-2019 programs & staff in OnCorps and Hub software platforms
  • Completed WERU/WMPG Radio interview about the Commission
  • Assisted with coordinating 4 day-long trainings for 2018-2019 AmeriCorps grantees, including assembling documents & resources for staff to reference

Issues to be aware of:

  • The Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS) launched a new pre-enrollment process on 7/2 that requires a couple of additional steps before members can start service. Glitches in their system have led to enrollment delays across the country, and Maine programs have encountered issues stemming from glitches and/or understanding the new regulations. Commission staff is working to educate program staff and resolve issues with CNCS, but kinks in the process are still being ironed out on both the federal and state levels.
  • Program monitoring is almost complete on a program that has demonstrated several documentation compliance issues. More information will be presented to Commission/Task Force when appropriate.

Major focus of effort for the next month:

  • AmeriCorps State & National Symposium week of 9/10 in Washington DC
  • Complete monitoring for the aforementioned program that has already begun, plus starting monitoring process for 2 remaining programs
  • Reviewing 2017-2018 end-of-year reports submitted by programs
  • Starting 2017-2018 final progress report for CNCS, due 10/31
