Welcome! Our press kit is designed for members of the media, branding partners and other interested parties who are looking to share information about Volunteer Maine, the State Service Commission.

Media relations information

Members of the local, regional or national media who are pursuing stories on volunteerism and service are welcome to connect with the designated spokespeople of the Volunteer Maine.

Per Commission bylaws, the two individuals who can serve as an official spokesperson are the Chair of the Commission and the Executive Director of Volunteer Maine. Any other individual who speaks on behalf of the Commission is not to be given the title of "spokesperson."

Volunteer Maine

Volunteer Maine, the state service commission, builds capacity and sustainability in Maine's volunteer sector by funding service programs, developing volunteer managers and service-learning practitioners, raising awareness of the scope and the impact of the volunteer sector, and encouraging an ethic of service. On Oct. 16, 2019, the Maine Commission for Community Service adopted the public identity Volunteer Maine.

AmeriCorps, a federal agency, brings people together to tackle the country’s most pressing challenges, through national service and volunteering. AmeriCorps members and AmeriCorps Seniors volunteers serve with organizations dedicated to the improvement of communities.
