The members convened at 8:30 am using the virtual meeting technology.
PRESENT: Jenni Tilton-Flood, Luke Shorty, Jeff McCabe, Maryalice Crofton
Discussion followed the standing agenda framework.
State Legislation and Cary Over Bills. Decided to advocate for including these in supplemental budget and somehow salvage the pending loss of a staff position. Commissioners' work will begin after policymakers have had a break. Most likely start late August. JMcCabe and LShorty will reach out to Governor's staff for meeting to discuss. Maryalice was asked to arrange a meeting between Commissioners and the Dept of Education Commissioner. JTF will reach out to Representative Fay for a meeting with she and Maryalice (and possibly Morgan)
Federal Budget Cuts to AmeriCorps. Over the next few weeks, JTF will include this issue in her discussions during already scheduled meetings with Congressional offices/staff. She also will connect and coordinate with Chair Elect Pam Proulx Curry who is taking on the role of the Commission's States for Service representative. Possible Plan: Public policy TF & Staff meeting with Congressional offices.
Next Meeting: We are tentatively planning on shifting to once-a-month meeting for the near future and we have the fourth Wednesday of the month scheduled. So our next meeting would be 23 August at 8:30 am.
