Program Officer for Volunteer Sector Initiatives: October 2021

Major Projects Underway:

  • Maine Volunteer Leadership Conference: overall feedback was positive, however people are tired of online and are ready to have a different format. Working on closing out the billing for this.

  • Looking for sponsors for the Governor Service Awards/Roll of Honor – nominations will open in January.

  • Looking for GSA committee to help with selecting winners for this coming year.

  • Recruitment for community organizations interested in service learning training, funded by the MOTT Foundation.

  • Finished training on Service Enterprise train the trainer. Scheduling out dates for a spring cohort – and recruiting organizations.

  • VGF FFR was due at the end of the month

Upcoming Project Focus

  • Will be attending the FEMA: State Volunteer and Donations Management course in Vermont at the end of the month.

  • Certification in Volunteer Administration has a testing window in April. Kelsey will be leading a study group to start in February.

  • Need to get training for CERT programs, and recruiting youth organizations for CERT.

  • Volunteer Generation Fund’s ARP funding has not been announced yet – however we are beginning to strategize how we would apply these funds and which organizations to partner with.

  • VGF yearly report out will be due end of December

  • Fall CMV course started November 1. Will run through December 16.

Ongoing:

  • E&E Task Force

  • Maine Volunteer Mangers Network: First meeting of the Maine Volunteer Managers Network: discussed results of the survey and resources that would be helpful moving forward. A lot of good sharing or experiences and resources happening. Next meeting will cover background checks.
