Program Officer, Special Initiatives May 2025

Major Projects:

  • Continued to create connections and collaborate with National Governor’s Association partners including Maine Rural Water Association, Department of Outdoor Recreation, Maine Youth for Climate Justice, Bangor Municipal Water, Bangor Public Works, and the Department of Labor
  • MOCA Directory working group meetings
  • Meeting with Brenda from University of Southern Maine to discuss possibilities for co-created soft skills trainings and regarding the NGA Policy Academy
  • Attended the Summit for Maine’s Economy and Climate and networked with potential fundraising assistance and MVLC sponsors
  • Revised Green Employer Learning Cohort grant to extend into October for increased flexibility of funds use
  • Learned how to manage MCCS records and began developing a retention plan
  • Planned for the MVLC in August including reaching out to potential sponsors, solidifying panelists for the Environmental Stewardship panel, and creating the logo for the conference
  • Finished ABCD Essentials training course
  • Met the new Maine Service Fellows at the CRRC NOAA training

  • Federal funding landscape is still uncertain

Major focus of effort in new month/Ongoing:

  • Recruit programs for the Climate Corps Network
  • Identify potential funding and training opportunities for the Maine Climate Corps Network
  • Plan for the Maine Volunteer Leadership Conference
  • Develop work plan that is in line with the goals being established for the Commission
  • Track financial reports
  • Develop records retention workplan
