Program Development & Training Officer: December 2020 - January 2021

Major projects completed -- Dec 2020 & Jan 2021

  • Began outreach work with Maine Primary Care concerning formation of a Public Health Corps, started conversations with existing grantees and the Governor's office in relation to Climate Corps options, and initial outreach to MDOE regarding future programs designs
  • Met with new rural awardee to finalize application content and make budget and other corrections. Established start date and set dates for additional training.
  • Began AmeriCorps Member Conference planning, overseeing organizational efforts by the Development Associate, including member conference committee formation, participation in various subcommittees, preparation of materials and attendance at weekly meetings.
  • Provided a broad range of support and technical assistance AmeriCorps programs, particularly those who will be formula recompetes, related to new program start-up and for new staff at Campus Compact and GPCOG.
  • Provided NCCC and gap year outreach to student groups at Foster Regional Tech Center.
  • Supported Maine Responds in transferring data of 3500 users into the Maine Ready Volunteer Management platform.
  • Updated CIF and VGF financial reports.

Issues to be aware of --

  • Vaccination planning at the state level has created strong interest in the functionality of the MaineReady.org platform.  An import of 3500 Medical reserve Corps members has caused a significant challenge for staff support functions and MRC has a expressed a desire to remove their presence from the platform.  Also related is ongoing coordination with MEMA and FEMA regarding use of National Service assets to meet emerging volunteer needs.
  • AmeriCorps Formula RFP release is scheduled for release in late February.  Open RFP's limit the ability of the Training officer to provide direct support as this provides advantage for an applicant unavailable to other applicants.
  • Service Enterprise cohort start has been delayed.

Major focus of effort in the new month --

  • Major planning for AmeriCorps Member Conference, scheduled for March 31st.
  • Support for Maine Ready expansion and associated messaging, including training for participant agencies.
  • VGF grants are all closed or closing.  Closeout process for 5 grantees begins in February.
  • Review and fund Professional Development Fund applications that meet established criteria.

Other activity --

  • Facilitated E & E Task Force Meeting and follow-up.
  • Ongoing AmeriCorps & VGF Technical Assistance to existing grantees via email, teleconference & face to face.
  • Procurement system management and initial entry of financial documents in state purchasing system, including purchase orders, bids, and contracts.
