Communications Officer: February 2022

Major projects completed

  • Finished production of the 2021 Annual Report.

  • Collaborating with Program Officer for Volunteer Sector Initiatives toss announce nominations for 2022 Governor's Awards for Service and Volunteerism.

  • AmeriCorps recruitment photo/video project: Collaborated with photo and video vendor to finalize production and distribute media to the two programs that have participated so far: First4 AmeriCorps and Maine Conservation Corps AmeriCorps Program.

Issues to be aware of

  • Due to delays in receiving information and data, along with a larger scope of work in publishing, the Annual Report took longer than originally anticipated to complete. Efforts will be made in March to catch up on areas that need attention.

  • We have yet to receive a Q4 (CY) airtime value report from the Maine Association of Broadcasters, given the news shared last month. Heightened efforts to get that information will take place in March.

  • Due to additional unforeseen issues, the announcement of Maine Service Fellows program gift to the Maine Volunteer Foundation remains on hold. Additional updates will be provided once available.

Major focus of effort in the next month

  • February/March issue of "Volunteer Fare" newsletter

  • Establishing a group of radio broadcast partners to run public service announcements and report on airtime value.

  • Establishing a group of television broadcast partners to run public service announcements and report on airtime value.

  • Investigating the benefits of partnering with the AmeriCorps federal for broadcast television public service announcement placement and airtime value reporting.

  • Assisting with media outreach and content development for Maine AmeriCorps Member Conference.

  • Assisting the Program Officer for Volunteer Sector Initiatives in increased awareness around the Governor's Awards for Service and Volunteerism.

  • Amplifying and distributing AmeriCorps program media, content and outreach initiatives around AmeriCorps Week, March 13-19, 2022.

  • Partnering with photo/video vendor to set up remaining photo/video shoots.
  • Participating in Maine Virtual Career Fair, offered by South Portland High School and the Department of Education on March 22 to share AmeriCorps service activities.
