AUGUSTA, Maine–Volunteer Maine invites proposals for workshop sessions at the 39th Maine Volunteer Leadership Conference (MVLC), taking place on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Camp Chamberlain, Maine National Guard Joint Force Headquarters.

Since 1986, this annual gathering has served as Maine’s premier professional development event for leaders of volunteer programs. The MVLC brings together community organizers, nonprofit professionals, government representatives, and others engaged in the work of civic leadership and volunteer engagement. It is the only statewide conference in Maine focused exclusively on advancing volunteerism.

This year’s theme is: Volunteerism: Embracing Civic Engagement & Stewardship

Proposals should address the intersection of:

  • Volunteerism: The act or practice of doing volunteer work in service to a community
  • Civic Engagement: The ways citizens participate in their communities to improve conditions and shape the future
  • Stewardship: The responsible management of something entrusted to one's care

Presenters are encouraged to submit workshop proposals that reflect innovative practices, transferable models, or powerful insights from their own experience. Whether you’re leading a grassroots project or managing a statewide initiative, your perspective could inspire and equip others striving to strengthen civic life in their communities.
