Program Development & Training Officer
Major projects completed – January 2019
- Met with new rural awardees to finalize application content and make budget and other corrections required by the Commission in their motions to approve
- Hosted midyear training for VGF grantees
- Began Regional National Service Conference and AmeriCorps Member Conference planning, including VIP invites, Call for Proposal design and structure for event
- Met with previously trained Service Enterprise agencies to kick start certification process and met with Trekkers’ AmeriCorps staff and members to troubleshoot program challenges (and meet new program coordinator)
Issues to be aware of –
- All rural grantees have significant capacity challenges that require extensive technical assistance. Staff changes at Campus Compact and at healthy Acadia require additional T.A. as well
- Commission is co-leading the updating of the Volunteer & Donations Management Annex to the State Emergency Response Plan with MEMA and Donations Coordination Team. Efficacy of current VolunteerMaine platform (Get Connected) for use in soliciting and managing donations of materials remains a challenge DCT has begun soliciting support for a cash donation portal host. Additional updating is result of administration change and length of time since last update
Major focus of effort in the new month –
- Establish contracts with Rural outreach contractor. Negotiate contracts with Aging in Place support contractor and Data Innovation Project at USM for evaluation and data management support
- Finalize design and host New Grantee Training for off-cycle Rural AmeriCorps grantees and support them in organizing for immediate start in March
- Major planning for AmeriCorps Member Conference, scheduled for March 27th
Other activity –
- Support onboarding of new Staff
- Ongoing AmeriCorps & VGF Technical Assistance to existing grantees via email, teleconference & face to face
- Staff support for PIE Task Force
- Procurement system management and initial entry of financial documents in state purchasing system, including purchase orders, bids, and contracts.
