Communications Officer: November 2020

Major projects completed

  • Collaborated with Administrative Assistant to complete the migration of reports, minutes and pages that were not migrated to new site by InforME to the new website.
  • Updated, organized and/or rewrote priority content areas on the new website for launch.
  • Helped the Communications Task Force to establish metrics for the new website homepage dashboard, which will help better communicate our focus areas and also serve as info for those inquiring about ROI.
  • Phase one of training on new website CMS, Drupal.
  • Phase one of new website testing.
  • Assisted production team from PBS American Portrait in the sourcing of stories of Maine Volunteers. Collaborated with Executive Director to connect people and programs with the opportunity.
  • Assisting volunteers/volunteer program representatives in the creation of their video submission. Videos were then shared on Volunteer Maine social media.

Issues to be aware of

  • Staffing: Temporary Administrative Assistant Bev Ludden is no longer with the team, and became a large source of support for Roche. Timing may be off this month as Roche works to reintegrate some of those responsibilities, such as handling mailings, contract details and additional administrative support duties.
  • Website domain transfer: The previous website contractor, Rob Landry, has been in and out of his company this past year, so reaching him to establish the transfer may be time consuming. The domain issues have pushed launch back to December.
  • New Volunteer Maine website: Now eying an December launch, this will be a large focus of work in the upcoming month. Time will need to be set aside for content management system training, content updates and additional small tweaks/adjustments.

Major focus of effort in the next month

  • Post website launch updates, quality control and training.
  • Producing new public service announcement campaigns, radio and TV, for 2021.
  • Reviewing attendance and producing AmeriCorps Launch certificates for members.
  • Establishing PSA contract with Maine association of broadcasters.
  • Continuing work with subcommittee in Communications Task Force to integrate behavior change marketing into the plan.
  • Mapping out path to begin resumption of storytelling-focused marketing and communications initiatives.
  • Collaborating with Development Associate to create a Giving Tuesday, targeting Maine AmeriCorps alumni, campaign to raise funds for the AmeriCorps member conference.
