Major projects completed

  • Assisted Program Officer for Volunteer Sector Initiatives in promotion and media creation for 2022 Governor's Awards for Service and Volunteerism, earning six media placements.
  • Produced and ran technical production of Governor's Awards for Service and Volunteerism.
  • Extended the contract of photo/video vendor so AmeriCorps recruitment project and media creation for 2022 advertisements can be continued.
  • Assisted Executive Director and Program Officer for Volunteer Sector Initiatives in restarting "Issues" video series, which will now be called "Volunteer 207." Two interviews have been recorded, while one has been delayed until May due to the availability of a guest.
  • Staffed outreach and ticket pickup table with Program Officer for Volunteer Sector Initiatives for Maine Volunteer Roll of Honor event at Portland Sea Dogs Volunteer Appreciation Game.
  • Helped Maine Volunteer Foundation and Commission to coordinate fundraising ask during Equality Maine in support of Maine Service Fellows program. A progress report will be shared before the next MVF meeting in May.
  • Assisted in completion of duties around Maine AmeriCorps Member Conference: Distributing thank you cards and providing resources for Administrative Assistant to order t-shirts.

Issues to be aware of

  • Maine Association of Broadcasters (MAB) staff transition: In April, there was optimism that a contract with MAB could be possible. However, as the month went on and the search for a new director continues, a new contract was not generated by MAB in time. A new plan has been established to reach out to a large radio group in Maine to see if they can offer match. If so, television PSAs will be pivoted to cable, which can earn match, and digital video, which cannot earn match but will get messages to more of the target demographic.
  • Volunteer Fare delay: The first edition of the revamped "Volunteer Fare" newsletter will be released in the first week of May, as a few more resources need to be gathered.

Major focus of effort in the next month

  • Finishing design of Maine Volunteer Roll of Honor ad to be placed in Bangor Daily News on May 10.
  • Establishing 2022 public service announcement contract and program utilizing partners other than MAB.
  • Continued work on advertising creative that supports new placements.
  • Finishing production of first edition of revamped "Volunteer Fare" newsletter.
  • Ongoing work to update press release/news distribution lists to include updated list of commissioners, MVF Board members, and other supporters both in state government and AmeriCorps Federal agency.
  • Helping Executive Director record final interview for first episode of Volunteer 207 and publishing.
  • Planning outreach and recruitment visits.
  • Follow up media distribution around Governor's Awards for Service and Volunteerism.
  • Assisting Program Officer for Volunteer Sector Initiatives with content planning for Maine Volunteer Leadership Conference.
