Major Projects:

  • Met with host site supervisors and decided to shift to a mid-May/ mid-June start for the upcoming cohort
  • Update recruitment websites with MSF positions including LinkedIn, Handshake, Indeed, and the website
  • Finalized selection for Volunteer Services Coordinator position
  • Met with Gianluca for mid-year evaluation of MSF service term
  • Hosted virtual Climate Corps Network meeting
  • Attended NOAA CRRC Resilient Maine 1st quarterly meeting
  • Researched and applied for recruitment opportunities/job fairs
  • Began onboarding process for James Fagan to continue service with Dover-Foxcroft for a second term
  • Met with the full Commission Board and passed policy on background checks for Fellows that renew their service term
  • Updated host site supervisor and member handbooks and orientation decks

Issues to be aware of:

  • Federal funding for NOAA grant and impact on Maine Service Fellows Challenges in recruiting for MSF

Major focus of effort in new month/Ongoing:

  • Recruit Maine Service Fellows for approved host sites.
  • Support Maine Service Fellows: reviewed timesheets, reports, and met with Fellows.
  • Collaborating with National Governor’s Association and the Green Employer’s Cohort on Service to Career Pathways and training opportunities
  • National Day of Service at the Hall of Flags and recruitment opportunities at the Maine Sustainability and Water Conference
  • Utilizing the Green Employer Learning Cohort funding for training opportunities for the Climate Corps Network
