November 2016 Administrative Staff Report- Program Development & Training Officer

Major projects completed –

AmeriCorps Technical Assistance & Training: Data Quality is the training focus for 2016-17, pre-test was finalized for use at December TA meeting. November TA was focused on improvements to AC Launch and Blaine House experience. Also: provided AC grantees with information on accessing disability support grants for members, shared Service Year updates and how programs can utilize the SY platform to increase recruitment.

Finalized and processed contracts for consultants on the AmeriCorps Opiate initiative. Hosted planning meeting for consultants and set direction for ongoing work in identifying key partners among community service partners and law enforcement personnel. Meeting resulted in a planned January 6th scoping meeting for stakeholders and initial agreement that Recovery Coach model is likely the most fruitful direction for application(s).

Continued to proctor fall CMV course.

Supported E&E and their continued focus on Service Enterprise (SE). Revisited items generated during the Commission Retreat, including relationship with PIE Task Force, role in BHCSV and progress on Municipal model of SE.

Set up SE Diagnostics for two agencies participating in the SE training starting in December and through January. Continued to participate in Service Enterprise national network calls.

Reached out to Vermont Commission and their recommended expert to better understand their use of Lean Management Theory to increase grantee performance. Learned how the process was used with newly funded grantee.

Volunteered to be on the design committee for the 2017 National Service Regional Conference, to be held in Baltimore in June and participated in the initial planning activities and calls.

Met with Senior Corps representatives to increase collaboration and cross stream training with Senior Corps programs in the state.  Established an initial timeline and subject matter for shared training on branding and outreach strategies.

Issues to be aware of – based on work with grantees, CNCS, or community groups, call the Commissioners’ attention to issues that impact MCCS activities. These can be emerging issues, concerns that task forces should explore, or resources/news they can use in their deliberations.

Service Year is establishing Service Year Impact Communities, concentrated effort to use service year resources within single municipalities.  Should be a good match for a number for Maine cities/towns.

Had challenges with new Service Enterprise online tools which was coupled with previously identified delay in training start.  Both involved agencies are currently engaged in the SED.

Get Connected platform limitations will mean that additional planning will need to be done to meet MCCS obligations with MEMA on donations.

Major focus of effort in the new month –

AmeriCorps Opiate initiative – Meet with County Sheriffs at their December meeting to establish support for opiate initiative and create compelling invitation for all participants at January 6th stakeholder meeting. Detailed planning for stakeholder planning meeting.

Begin Service Enterprise Training with Dempsey center and with Midcoast Hunger Prevention Program.

Outreach for Service Year Impact Communities.
