Communications Task Force: July 2021

Present

  • Commissioners: Chair Jenifer Tilton-Flood, Zachary Maher and John Portela
  • Staff: Bryan Roche

The Communications Task Force met electronically for its monthly meeting on Wednesday, July 14, 2021 and discussed the following:

June communications report

Tilton-Flood invited Roche to report on communications activities and successes from the month of June. Roche presented the report in its entirety, which can be accessed by using the following link — click here. The discussion of the report took up the majority of the meeting.

Public service announcement updates

Tilton-Flood asked Roche to provide an update on the performance of public service announcements (PSA). Roche reported that he has only received a Q1 preliminary report, which only included radio value figures through March. Roche spotlighted some of the stations that are willingly playing the PSAs. Roche concluded that he will work to get a clearer picture once figures are made available by the Maine Association of Broadcasters.

Communications plan

Tilton-Flood asked Roche to provide a copy of the updated communications plan draft to the task force so it can be considered for discussion during the next full Commission meeting Thursday. Sept. 16, 2021. Roche added that he will be adding information around op-ed opportunities and legislative engagement at the state level.

Next Task Force chair

Due to scheduling conflicts impacting attendance, Tilton-Flood asked to table discussion and voting on the new Chair until the August meeting. Task Force Members in attendance obliged.

Next meeting

Wed. Aug. 11, 2021 from 4 - 5 p.m. (ADDENDUM 8/11/21: The August meeting will be moved to the following week due to scheduling conflicts.)
